The International
Museum of Naive Art is located in Vicq, a charming village
in the heart of the Yvelines departement just outside
Paris. The art works, largely drawn from the Max Fourny
Collection, are put into context through temporary
exhibitions. These exhibitions aim to give a greater
insight into the history of one of the few artistic genres
which has flourished throughout all five continents. The
Museum owes its originality to the juxtaposition of a rich
variety of culturally diverse styles. |
| The
MIDAN constitutes an important resource centre, making accessible,
both to researchers and the general public, a large number
of publications on Naive Art. The
Naive Art exhibitions are intended not only for specialists,
but also for first time visitors. The picturesque spontaneity,
simple characterization and sometimes fairy tale quality
of the works make them particularly attractive to children
as well. |

A visit
to the Museum offers the opportunity to learn about the customs,
traditions and everyday life of other countries and cultures
through their art. The wide range of materials and media represented
in the collection enable the visitor to discover the many and
very varied techniques which can be used in creative art.
