A visit to the International Museum
of Naïve Art can easily be incorporated into a cultural
tour of the area by car, bicycle or on foot. There are many
natural, historical and cultural attractions to chose from,
all in close proximity to Vicq.
- Parks and gardens :
the Butterfly Reserve at La Queue-Lez-Yvelines, the
African Reserve at Thoiry, the feudal castle keep in
Neauphle-le-Château, the garden of the Maurice
Ravel Museum and the park around the Château de
Groussay in Montfort-l'Amaury.
- Museums :
Daniel and Florence Guerlains' Contemporary Art Foundation
in Les Mesnuls, Maurice Ravel's House in Montfort-l'Amaury
and Jean Monnet's House in Bazoches-sur-Guyonne.
- Châteaux :
Beynes (12th, 13th and 15th
century ruins), Montfort-l'Amaury (11th and
16th century remains) and Thoiry (16th
century).
- Archeological sites :
the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa at Millière.
- Churches :
St Nicolas of Neauphle-le-Château (12th,
17th and 19th centuries, listed
furniture, historic organ 18th and 19th
centuries), St Pierre and St Nicolas of Neauphle-le-Vieux
(12th, stained glass from drawings by Dominique
Ingres), St Pierre and St Paul of Montfort-l'Amaury
(11th, 16th, 19th centuries,
listed 16th century stained glass).
- Other curiosities :
lavoirs (ancient outdoor communal wash tubs) in Autouillet
(1898), Neauphle-le-Vieux, Méré and Vicq,
and Montfort-l'Amaury Prison (13th century).
